Epidemiology of canine parvovirus infection in and around Pantnagar, Uttarakhand: A retrospective study

In India, Canine Parvovirus Infection is an endemic viral disease-causing severe gastroenteritis and significant numbers of deaths in puppies, even vaccinated populations. A retrospective study was conducted between June, 2021 2022 around Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, which cases gastro-enteritis were screened for canine parvovirus infection. total 258 out 627 presented found to be positive based on Rapid Antigen Tests Polymerase Chain Reaction with a prevalence rate 41.15%. Data associated factors such as age, breed, sex, season, immunisation relocation stress recorded. Mongrels the most affected among various breeds, 51.16%, followed by exotic breed Labrador retriever (9.68%). Males (63.57%) more than females (34.43%). As higher age group 3-6 months (43.40%), less 3 (31.40%) respectively. Considering other risk vaccination status stress, seen comparatively spring (33.33%) winter (29.07%); also, non-vaccinated (63.13%) about 25.19% animals relocated recently infected parvovirus.
